If you stick a piece of taffy into the cold, it will get hard and, with force, it will break.
If you place that same piece of taffy in a warm environment, you can bend and shape the candy into any form you like.
Our bodies, like taffy, can loosen up and bend more easily while in a heated space.
During one of our heated classes, your superficial soft tissue structures, including the fascia, ligaments, muscles and tendons, will warm up quickly and allow you to move further, more comfortably, and safely in all directions.
The heat produces a taffy-like softness in your body allowing for greater range of movement, and lubricating your ligaments and tendons, increasing your strength and flexibility. Your muscles and connective tissue become more elastic and will help you to go deeper into your yoga poses as your body becomes more flexible, with less chance of injury. Practicing in a heated space not only benefits your body, but it also improves your mental state. The hot environment demands a sharpening of your mental focus, concentration and determination during class. With the help of the heat, our bodies and minds become stronger and more flexible, allowing us to be mobile and healthy well into later age. You’re never too old, never too sick, and it’s never too late to start from scratch once again!
